Little Readers
Preschool Groups & Clubs
​ for 3, 4 & 5 year olds

"Little Readers" is a reading/handwriting group for preschoolers, ages 3-5,  that will provide enrichment to develop phonemic and phonological awareness skills necessary to read and write.

Through play, research-based instruction will include rhyming and games to explore  sounds and syllables.

Handwriting instruction will be a multi-sensory approach to proper letter formation that focuses on recognizing upper and lowercase letters and sounds.

​Each week your child will take home books that help develop concepts of print and an understanding of the sound/symbol relationship as they map sounds to the printed letter. When ready, students will begin to sound blend, decode and develop a sight word vocabulary. 
 
Instruction aligns with the Howard County Preschool and Kindergarten Curriculum and the Science of Reading to incorporate phonemic awareness, phonics, orthographic mapping, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and writing.  


*Fall, winter and spring reading groups will meet in-person at my home on
Tuesdays, GUMC Preschool (Glenelg United Methodist Church), Kim Lee's house & Clarlen Nursery Inc. 

*Kim Lee and I have partnered to teach Math and Literacy together at GUMC Preschool on Mondays and also Wednesday afternoons at her house.

*Cost includes printed materials and a learning box with manipulatives for multi-sensory learning. 

*Optional homework will consist of phonemic awareness, phonics activities and handwriting practice.

​​*You will receive a weekly summary email and extension activities will be suggested.

*There will be an 8-week fall , winter and spring session for the 2025/26 school year. ​
